Tottenham reach deal to sign David Villa

The dream of
Arsenal fans,
to see David
Villa in their
colours next
season may
have hit the
rocks, as the Spaniard is coming to
London, but not to the Emirates.
The Barcelona striker will reportedly join
English Premier League side, Tottenham
Hotspur after manager, Andre Villas-Boas
convinced the Spanish international to join
him at White Hart Lane next season.
Contract
According to Jose Ramon De La Morena
from Cadena SER's El Larguero programme,
Villas-Boas personally travelled to Barcelona
to speak with Villa and convince him to
come to London.
Villa had been linked with a move away
from the Camp Nou throughout the season,
as his contract is set to expire on 30th June
2014 and has not solidified his role in the
starting XI, causing Barça to look to the
future.
Significant
Arsenal submitted a formal bid for the
striker last January, but it was rejected by
Barcelona, who felt he would play a
significant role in the 2nd half of the
season.
The report did not give specific details on
the transfer, but it will likely be around €12
million or above as per Barcelona's asking
price and recent rumoured bids by Atlético
Madrid.
